If you've been on the fence about getting into drone photography, DJI might be about to make that decision a whole lot easier. The company is expected to announce two new entry-level drones later this week, and thanks to an early retailer listing spotted by leaker Roland Quandt, we already have a pretty clear picture of what to expect.

Two tiers, two price points

According to listings from Italian electronics retailer Dino Galiano, as reported by The Verge, DJI is bringing out the Lito 1 and the Lito X1. The Lito 1 is set to come in at €339.99 (roughly $400), while the Lito X1 steps it up to €419.99 - just under $500.

That price gap isn't arbitrary. The key differentiator between the two models appears to be the camera. The pricier X1 comes equipped with a larger sensor, which typically means better low-light performance and more detail in your shots. For anyone serious about the quality of their aerial footage, that extra hundred dollars or so could be well worth it.

Why this matters for beginners

The beginner drone market has exploded in recent years, but it's also been a bit of a minefield. Too cheap, and you're stuck with shaky footage and frustrating flight controls. Too expensive, and you're dropping serious cash before you even know if the hobby is for you.

DJI sitting in the $400 to $500 range with the Lito lineup feels like a deliberate sweet spot - capable enough to produce results you'll actually want to share, but not so expensive that a minor crash becomes a financial disaster.

What to watch for at the official launch

The full specs and feature set will become clearer once DJI makes the official announcement later this week. Beyond raw camera specs, things like flight time, wind resistance, obstacle avoidance, and how the drones pair with a smartphone app will all play a big role in whether these are genuinely good value or just good on paper.

For now, the leaked listings paint an encouraging picture. If DJI can deliver reliable performance at these prices, the Lito series could become the go-to recommendation for anyone who wants to start flying without a steep learning curve or a steep price tag.
